Competition: 2 great GFB events

When it comes to competition, spring is usually really busy in northern Germany. This year, we were really lucky with the wind and could run two GFB events. The first one took place during the SURF-festival on Fehmarn - a great event with sunshine and easterly winds that got stronger every evening. I was really happy with my sailing there. I even managed to land a backloop in one of my heats - such a great feeling! There were some tough heats with the wind going down a bit when I was against Valentin Böckler. That was probably my toughest heat, since I was on 4.4 when I should have been on 4.8. In the final against Tilo Eber, I did well to use my 4.8 which provided me with enough power to land my moves and win the event.

One week later, we went straight to Rügen for the second competition at Suhrendorf/ Ummanz. It was a great event with lots of wind for 4.8, 4.4 and 4.0 on the final day. I sailed very well on Saturday and not so well on Sunday, except for the superfinal against Tilo where I could land an Air Kabi, just before the end of the heat, putting me in the lead by one point. So I could win this event as well. What a great start to the competition it has been! I am really motivated to further improve my sailing. Of course, competition is about winning, but it is also great for improving! I want to encourage all windsurfers to take part in comps because this is how you push your level. See you on the water!
Thanks to Valentin Böckler and Jakob Scott for all the following pics. Thanks to Valle for organizing another great event and accommodation!
