Weekend sessions

Image
With a tough working schedule, I could only windsurf at the weekend. I went to Denmark before heading to Fehmarn. Thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Perfect-Move campaign, there was also a photoshoot going on. Here are some pictures. Thanks to #SPORTSGARAGE Here are two photos from Denmark shot by masthoch.de

Magic Monday

What a great session we had on Monday. I was on the water with my cousin. This was the first time in like 5 years that we windsurfed together and it was just great. The day started slowly with lighter winds and choppy conditions. It wasn't until the evening that the wind decided to finally kick in. All in all, I must have spent 7 or 8 hours on the water. I hope to have a good session with my cousin again soon! René captured some nice images and I could do a short clip as well: a baltic day from Mathias Genkel on Vimeo .

Reef

Lighter winds and a small south swell today, so I tried to sail the reefbreak at Pozo. But it wasn't really working. Not complaining though. It was fun being out in the water on a sunny day.

Training Session in Pozo

Windy everyday here in Gran Canaria but not very wavy. Check out some photos and a short video clip of a training session from today. training session in pozo from Mathias Genkel on Vimeo .

A mellow day on the water

Image
Although the forecast was only for light winds, it was still sailable on 4.4 today. After a couple of days with really strong winds, these mellow conditions make for a bit of a change. The forecast for the next couple of days looks promising. Here are some photos and two sequences of a small backloop and a forward loop.

testing prototypes in magic light

Image
Last Friday afternoon was just a perfect start to the weekend with strong winds at my homespot. Upon arrival, we were greated with heavy rain and gusty winds, which seems to be a regular weather pattern this summer. However, conditions kept improving and we even got some sunny spells later in the evening, which made for some perfect light for taking photos. Alex Zachen from balance photography took some great shots. Check out his website . I am also testing some prototype sails for the new Sailloft Quad. All I can say so far is that I am amazed by their balanced feel and responsiveness. They are now so light in your hands and even easier to duck. Check out the photos and a short clip: quad-test from Mathias Genkel on Vimeo .
