Arctic Session on New Year's Day

It had been quite a while since my last day on the water. So when I saw the forecast for New Year's day I was getting very excited. They announced a strong north-westerly wind, sunny weather and 2 to 3 degrees celsius. If it hadn't been for the floating ice that seemed to show up on the webcam, I might have been even more motivated to windsurf. Needless to say that everybody I told about my plan to go out in these conditions thought I was crazy. Well, I decided to drive to the beach and have a look for myself. When my girlfriend and me arrived, it was very windy and sunny, as predicted, but there was also quite a bit of crushed ice in the water. I decided to give it a try anyway and it was definitely the right decision.
 
As you can see, the waves lacked power and it wasn't that windy in the end. Maybe the waves backed up due to the patch of ice next to the harbour wall. But you can already see from these pictures that the waves get rather clean. So this can be a good spot in bigger winds and waves.
